NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Today, over 100 companies across the Lowcountry showcased their work at the first North Charleston Business Expo.
While the name may say North Charleston, businesses from all over the tri-county area were busy networking.
"I have meetings set up now for next week, to sit down and have coffee with some of the people that we met, to see how we can help one another," Kayce Gardner, Market Manager for the Wescott Branch of Grow Financial Federal Credit Union, said.
The city of North Charleston created this event so businesses could learn more about each other.
Organizers believe it's the largest business expo the area has seen in years.
"Not only do we have people here doing business among the booths, we have a lot of people from the general business community that will come here looking for potential customers," Brent Case, Chairman of the North Charleston Business Expo Committee, said.
175 businesses turned out for the expo today. That's not including the 40 that were on the wait list because the event sold out a month before the event. Some of these businesses are already registering for next year.
"I'm just glad to be here, and to be a part of this," Winchester Brown, President of Winchester Xavier & Associates, Inc., said.
Some people who attended said they were shocked at the number of businesses and the range of diversity the greater Charleston area has.
They said this event has brought a new light to how they will conduct business in the future.
Registration for the 2016 North Charleston Business Expo is expected to open in the coming weeks.
