Charleston police are investigating after reports of a purse snatching that happened Saturday night, and several assaults on Sunday morning in Downtown Charleston.

The purse snatching happened at 11:30 p.m. near 207 Rutledge Avenue.

A couple was walking down that road when they were approached by about five juveniles.

Police say a verbal exchange happened between them and the juveniles left the area.

The juveniles returned a few minutes later, blocking the couple's path. One of the juveniles knocked a purse out of the victim's hand, picked it up, and then fled down Cannon Street.

About 12:50 a.m., police responded to Vanderhorst and Coming after reports to a group of juveniles causing a disturbance in the area.

At that time, five men approached the officers and said they were assaulted by a group of juveniles.

All injuries were treated at the scene, and police say none of the victims were taken to the hospital.

Police are still investigating.
