CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - People Against Rape or PAR held its annual Take Back the Night event in Marion Square Sunday.
Organizers and supporters for the Take Back the Night event set up tables with information and support for rape victims.
Speakers included Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen who urged people to be supporters of rape victims and stay engaged throughout the year.
The featured speaker was Allison Jennings, who shared her stories of being a survivor of rape.
"This is something that we're scared to talk about as a community so it's important that we let survivors know that we're not alone and there are a lot of resources there for them," Cary Love, a Coordinator for PAR said.
People Against Rape helps people all around the Lowcountry and has a 24/7 hotline and law enforcement help for victims.
