CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Charleston fugitive who's been on the run for 15 years was located at a produce stand in North Carolina.
On Monday morning, the U.S. Marshals Service along with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office arrested Robert Earl Payseur in Hendersonville.
Payseur was wanted by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office for failing to appear in a court case in 2000.
According to investigators, Payseur was charged with committing lewd acts with a minor in 1998 prior to going on the run in 2000.
An investigation led by U.S. Marshals from the Western District of North Carolina, along with members of the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, revealed that Payseur was possibly staying in a residence on Bowden Drive.
After conducting interviews and following up on numerous leads, Payseur was located at a produce stand on Chimney Rock Road.
Payseur was taken into custody without incident and confined in the Henderson County Jail pending extradition to South Carolina.
