COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - It's time for the 47th Annual Special Olympics Summer Games at Fort Jackson.

Organizers say 1,200 athletes and hundreds of coaches, volunteers and spectators are expected on hand for the events.

Events kick off Friday with registration and a dinner for the athletes. There is also a reception and opening ceremonies, followed by coaches meetings.

Saturday is full of events, including track and field, aquatics, bowling, bocce, gymnastics, badminton, softball and powerlifting. Another athlete dinner is followed by a victory celebration.

A worship service is scheduled for Sunday.
