BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Drivers should be aware of possible delays from upcoming nighttime lane closures on U.S. Highway 278 Westbound and Eastbound.
According to the R.R. Dawson Bridge Company, the closures will take place starting on Sunday evening, and will continue through Thursday.
There will be a lane closure on Hwy 278 Westbound between Buckingham Plantation Drive and the bridges to Hilton Head Island on Sunday at 7 p.m., ending on Monday around 6 a.m.
There will be nighttime lane closures and a traffic shift on Hwy 278 Westbound and Eastbound in the same area starting on Monday at 7 p.m. and ending on Thursday by 6 a.m.
Eastbound traffic will move into a single lane and shift to westbound prior to Fording Island Road Extension. Highway 278 will be two-way traffic until Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge.
The closure will be due to construction activities on the westbound and eastbound ramps.
All road work is dependent on weather.
