CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - In connection with the Charleston County School District Wellness Initiative, dozens of district staff members traded textbooks for a friendly game of tennis Saturday morning.
For the seventh year, CCSD hosted it's annual Superintendent's Cup, held at The Charleston Tennis Center, and The Mt. Pleasant Tennis Complex..
The day included networking and tennis instruction, but also allowed staff members to model the healthy lifestyles they encourage among district students.
"All in the spirit of wellness and health, said Cesar Alban, of North Charleston Elementary School.
"It's not the prize that drives us to do this, it's just fun."
This year's tournament saw as many as 50 teams from schools across the district. Organizers say due to it's growing success, the tournament required two sites this year.
"I'm not a really strong player," added Memminger Elementary teacher Ashley Manley.
"I'm just doing it to support my school and be a team player."
