JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Attorney General Alan Wilson and Holly Petraeus, the Assistant Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, will be in the Lowcountry Monday to meet with military members about their financial concerns.
The two will begin the day with a closed training session at Joint Base Charleston, followed by a lunch and round table discussion with military members and their families at noon.
The goal is to ensure military families receive the information they need to make sound financial decisions, to ensure that complaints and questions from military families are monitored and responded to, and that federal and state agencies coordinate their activities to improve consumer protection measures for service members and their families.
The visit to Charleston is part of Petraeus' national outreach to open lines of communications between military leaders. Petraeus is the wife of former CIA director and Army General David Petraeus.
David Petraeus was sentenced in April to two years probation and fined $100,000 for giving his mistress classified material while she was working on a book.
Attorney General Wilson represents the National Association of Attorneys General, which determines what actions can be taken to address military members needs.
