NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Traffic on I-26 eastbound is once again moving smoothly, hours after an early morning accident shut down two lanes near the interchange.
SCDOT reported a two-vehicle collision around 6:45 a.m. on I-26 eastbound near mile marker 211.5. The wreck had the right two lanes, which are later used to merge onto I-526, closed.
Nearly three hours later, the vehicles, which appeared to be semi-trucks, were removed from the interstate and all lanes reopened.
The accident had traffic stretching all the way back to mile marker 200 at a near standstill. Those delays lingered for several minutes after the wrecked vehicles were moved before the traffic thinned and returned to normal by 10 a.m.
