BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents have arrested a 22-year-old man accused of the shooting death of his stepfather Monday evening.

SLED arrested Bryan Patrick Malonis on Tuesday and charged him with murder.

He was locked up at the Beaufort County Detention Center.

According to an affidavit, Malonis shot Joseph Cochran two times in the chest and once in the back of the head with a handgun at a Pleasant Farm Drive home.

Authorities say Malonis' mother saw her son holding the gun in the presence of Cochran at the time the shots were fired.

The affidavit states that during a recorded interview, Malonis said that he "killed, Joe."

The case was investigated by SLED at the request of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The case will be prosecuted by the 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
