Hospital notifying patients of lost flash drive

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Several hundred patients of Roper St. Francis Hospital will be receiving a letter in the mail about a lost flash drive that contained limited patient information.

Information on the flash drive included patients' names, ages, diagnoses, and dates of procedures, according to a hospital spokesperson. The flash drive not include social security numbers, dates of birth, insurance or financial information. 

Hospital officials say a thorough search and investigation was conducted, and they believe no one has improperly accessed the flash drive or used it for ill will. 

The flash drive had information about 360 patients on it, the spokesperson said.

Any patients with questions or concerns to call (843) 402 – CARE (2273).
