Police seeking public's help in February Walterboro murder

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - Crime Stoppers and the Walterboro Police Department are asking for the public's help to solve the shooting death of a 65-year-old man.

Police responded on Feb. 6 to a report of shots being fired at home in the 200 block of Chaplin Street. They found James Mitchell lying at the front porch with a gunshot wound to the head.

Mitchell died of his injuries.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, but are seeking information from anyone who saw or heard something that could help shed light on the crime.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111 or (888) CRIME-SC. Tips that lead to the arrest of suspects are eligible for a $1,000 reward.
