MT. PLEASANT, SC - A Charleston business known as "Bidr" is $100,000 richer.
Bidr is a technology company that says it can increase revenue for silent auctions by 40% through text messaging.
The money is tied to a small business competition led by Steve Case, the co-founder of AOL.
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley joined the former AOL Chief Executive during the Rise of the Rest tour, as will Charleston Mayor Joe Riley.
The companies that competed for the sizable check include: Dynepic, Good Done Great, Eatabit, Bidr, Charleston Gourmet Burger, OpenAngler, Bublish, and Echovate.
Case has invested in about 40 startup companies through his venture capital fund called Revolution. Zipcar and Living Social are among the companies that Case's firm has invested in.
