CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The United States Golf Association is in negotiations to bring the 2019 U.S. Women's Open to the Charleston area, sources have confirmed.
If successful, the Country Club of Charleston would host the event.
The US Women's Open is the oldest of the LPGA Tour's five major championships.
The 2015 edition will be played from July 9 through 12 at the Lancaster Country Club just outside Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
The news comes less than a week after PGA America announced its PGA Championship would return to Kiawah Island Resort's Ocean Course in 2021.
No decision is imminent and there is no timetable on when a decision will be made.
