MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - The 7th grade class at Thomas Cario Middle School in Mount Pleasant will be hosting a Bake Sale Bazaar Fundraiser on Saturday to support HALOS (Helping and Lending Outreach Support).
The bake sale takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cario Middle School beside the gym. The school is located at 3500 Thomas Cairo Blvd.
The students have set a goal to raise $600 for the HALOS Foundation, which provides support and advocacy for abused and neglected children and kinship caregivers.
In addition to the bake sale, there will be arts and crafts, used books, and other small items for sale. Entertainment will include musical performances, student artwork, and a bouncy house.
Visitors are also asked to bring donations. Items requested are new car seats, diapers of all sizes, wipes, gift cards to Wal Mart, Target, or other local grocery stores, toiletries, new backpacks, and new school supplies.
“Most Cario students are very fortunate, but for children less fortunate HALOS is there to help them. We are all excited that we get to be a part of helping,” said Gavin Dees, a 7th grade student at Cario Middle School.
The HALOS Foundation was chosen as the beneficiary after the students wrote persuasive essays in support of various non-profit organizations, which were published in the
. The Mount Pleasant community then voted on the essays to select the organization. Chap Hodges is the author of the winning essay on HALOS.
