NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police are continuing to investigate after bullets were reportedly fired into a North Charleston home early Sunday morning, wounding one person.
According to an incident report, North Charleston police were called to a home on 5200 block of Westview Street Sunday just after 3:00 a.m. for reports of subjects firing several shots into the residence.
Police say they made contact with the victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the right bicep and was grazed by a bullet on his left check.
The resident told police he had been sleeping on the couch when he heard banging on the door. The report states that the resident believed someone had attempted to kick in the front door, but had failed.
As the victim began to walk towards the door, the subjects reportedly fired bullets into the house, striking the victim.
Police say the victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers observed multiple shell casings outside the home, and several bullet holes in the front of the residence, the incident report states.
According to the victim, several family members also lived at the home.
Police spoke with neighbors who reported hearing the gunshots, but said they did not see the subjects.
The investigation is ongoing.
