Police arrest suspect in N. Charleston bank robbery

Police arrested a Ladson man in connection with an April bank robbery in North Charleston.

James E. Wilson, Jr., 35, faces charges of armed robbery, entering a financial institution with the intent to steal, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, according to booking records.

The charges are related to the armed robbery of the First Citizens Bank on University Boulevard on April 24, according to North Charleston Police spokesman Spencer Pryor.

The suspect entered the bank at approximately 4:45 p.m., brandished a revolver, handed tellers a bag and ordered them to put money in it, the police incident report states. Police say he left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and drove away in a black Ford Explorer.

Police obtained warrants for Wilson's arrest on Wednesday and arrested him in Ladson.

He was being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
