CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Mitchell Elementary School is closing out the year with its annual Harvest Dinner festival and fundraiser. The event honors the accomplishments of the students, who have learned how to maintain a garden and grow fresh foods.
It is an opportunity to bring friends and families together to share the fruits (and vegetables) of their labors.
The dinner takes place on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mitchell Elementary School & Green Heart Gardens, located at 2 Perry Street in Charleston.
All proceeds from the event will be used to support the Green Heart Project and its associated farm-to-school programs.
Barbecued pig will be served in addition to the produce harvested from the Mitchell garden.
Attendees will be able to enjoy child-friendly attractions, live music, garden tours, games and prizes, a jump castle, and more. There will also be a bike valet, so guests are invited to bring their bikes along.
