CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

There could be some changes when it comes to the future of building heights in downtown Charleston.

City Planning Director Tim Keene says the planning commission voted to change the height regulations in two parts of downtown;on Broad Street where Sergeant Jasper is located, and in the Marion Square area.

In those areas, you can build higher depending on how far the building is set back from the street.

The new hotel at Marion Square, and the planned Sergeant Jasper project will not be affected by any new zoning rules.

There will be a public hearing before anything is passed.
