FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Heavy showers possible for Wednesday rush hour

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The Lowcountry is under the threat of heavy rain if showers or storms form Wednesday afternoon, which could lead to tougher driving conditions at rush hour.

A cold front is stalling out across the Lowcountry Wednesday and will provide a better chance for scattered storms as it encounters an unseasonably hot and humid air mass, according to Meteorologist Justin Lock.

"The places where storms form could easily pick up a quick inch of rain," Lock said.

Lock says another cold front will sweep through Thursday bringing heat and humidity relief in time for Memorial Day weekend.
