Berkeley County schools ask for donations to 'stuff the bus'

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County School District is launching a campaign to collect school supplies for Berkeley County families in need, while making it a fun event for those who want to get involved. As part of the Stuff the Bus campaign, the school district is asking individuals to donate school supplies to provide students with what it necessary to perform and succeed in the classroom.

Several events will be hosted as part of the Stuff the Bus campaign:

A golf tournament to be held at the Berkeley Country Club, located at 772 Exeter Plantation Road, in Moncks Corner. It begins June 19 at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $50 per player, and $200 per team of four. Mulligans are $5. Participants will have a chance to win prizes.

The Shaggin' Under The Stars event will be held on July 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at  Old Santee Canal Park. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children, and free if you bring school supplies. Music will be performed by Custom 4. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic dinners.

The Campaign ends with a Stuff the Bus rally on August 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Walmarts in Goose Creek and Moncks Corner. School supplies may still be purchased on the final day of the rally at both Walmarts, and donated to a Berkeley County School District representative outside the store. Participants can also continue to donate supplies directly to the campaign.
