CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Nine candidates will be interviewed by the Charleston County School Board for the superintendent position.
In a specially called meeting, the school board voted tonight to interview nine candidates recommended by the South Carolina School Board Association. The candidate names were not released.
The school board also voted to extend the superintendent search for an additional year. That motion failed in a 3-6 vote.
Earlier in the week, Board Chairwoman Cindy Bohn Coats told Live 5 that the board may interview semi-finalists via Skype in the first week of June, and finalists in the middle of June. She said it was the board's goal to have a new superintendent in place by the start of the next school year.
Michael Bobby has been the district's interim superintendent since Nancy McGinley resigned the position in October.
