Firefighters rescue pets from burning North Charleston home

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The North Charleston Fire Department rescued a dog and a cat from a burning home Saturday.

Firefighters say alert neighbors called 911 to report the fire in the 1,000 block of Bexley Street. Crews from Charleston and North Charleston Fire Departments responded just before noon.

First-responding units reported smoke coming from the roof of the single story home, according to North Charleston Fire spokesperson Bianca Bourbeau. The family of three was not home at the time of the fire, she said.

The residents of the home are being assisted by family members while firefighters investigate the cause of the fire, Bourbeau said.

No injuries were reported.
