CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Parents and caregivers can swing by downtown Charleston Wednesday afternoon to get their child car seats inspected, and to ensure they are installed properly.
The Car Seat Check-Up event will be held in the parking lot next to Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Officials with the Charleston Fire Department, Safe Kids Trident Area, and the Charleston RiverDogs will be on hand, along with certified child passenger safety technicians.
Those who plan to stop by are asked to bring their child safety seat, manuals, and their child if possible.
According to Safe Kids Worldwide and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, three out of four kids are not as secure in the car as they should be due to incorrect usage of a child safety seat. Also, car crashes are the leading cause of death for children age one through 12.
No appointments are needed for Wednesday's event.
