DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested a 31-year-old man suspected of leading officers on a high speed chase in St. George last month.
The St. George Police Department arrested Carsheme Dinkins over the weekend.
Dinkins was wanted for an incident on May 24 when officers attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Dinkins, according to a release from the police department. Police say Dinkins and his passenger, 25-year-old Damon Riley, were wanted in connection with an altercation in Harleyville.
Police say Dinkins sped through town at a high rate of speed before running out of road behind a feed and seed business.
The two men jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot, according to the release. Riley was carrying a 9mm handgun which he dropped after the foot chase, the release states.
The gun was recovered by police who say it was reported stolen from Goose Creek. Dorchester County deputies had also attempted to locate the pair but were unsuccessful.
Anyone with information on Riley's whereabouts should contact their local law enforcement agency or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
