COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's economic advisers are expected to identify hundreds of millions of additional dollars flowing into state coffers.

The Board of Economic Advisors' decision at Friday's meeting could provide legislators roughly $400 million additional to spend in the fiscal year starting July 1.

Chairman Chad Walldorf confirmed last week that tax collections as of April 30 were $200 million higher than previously expected. If the board certifies that's available to spend, legislators could have $200 million in surplus money for one-time projects and $200 million for recurring spending.

The expected windfall has further complicated legislators' debate over how to fund road and bridge construction.

GOP Sen. Tom Davis is filibustering part of the Senate's budget package because he opposes raising gas taxes. He says the additional money can fund roadwork.
