Police: Armed robbers flee restaurant empty-handed

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - Walterboro Police are searching for a pair of men who attempted to rob a restaurant.

Police responded to the Captain D's at 762 Bells Highway at approximately 10:21 p.m. Tuesday.

Employees told police two unknown masked men approached one employee who was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot. That victim said one of the masked men war armed with a silver handgun and forced him out of his vehicle.

The two men then escorted the employee to the rear of the business where they forced their way inside and demanded money, according Walterboro Police spokesperson Amye Stivender.

When employees told the would-be robbers there was no money, the robbers became nervous and fled on foot, Stivender said.

No descriptions of the robbers were immediately available.
