CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

A 54-year-old fugitive wanted in Charleston County surrendered to authorities after he saw himself on TV.

Ronald Waring turned himself over to US Marshals on Tuesday.

Waring was recently featured on a Live 5 Most Wanted segment.

A CCSO report states Waring told a detective at the Al Canon Detention Center,"Man...once I saw myself on the news and heard the US Marshals were after me, I knew I had no choice but to turn myself in!"

Waring was wanted on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender more than third offense.

Charleston investigators say Waring was supposed to register in December of last year but failed to do so.

Waring is on the state's sex offender registry for a conviction of criminal sexual conduct with a minor second degree.
