CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for shooting 5-year-old Tyreik Gadsden.
The organization along with the Charleston Police Department are seeking help in solving the May 22 shooting when someone fired gunshots in the area of Mary and America Streets.
One of the shots hit Gadsden in the back, and as a result he has been left paralyzed.
Detectives with CPD say they have worked many hours following leads in the case, and are working around the clock to bring justice for Tyreik and his family.

Tyreik has since been moved out of the intensive care unit at MUSC Children's Hospital and is no longer considered to be in critical condition, but his grandmother says the bullet remains lodged in his spine and he is currently paralyzed from the waist down.
