BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Kids can get excited about reading by participating in Beaufort County Library's 2015 Summer Reading Program, featuring this year's super hero theme.

The program opens on June 6 and runs through June 17. Registration is online or at any of the Beaufort County library branches.

Children of all ages from babies to teens are invited to participate.

The "Every Hero Has a Story" program is open to children through age 10, and the "Unmask Your Inner Hero" program is open to ages 11-17.

Each participant is free to set his or her own goal for the number of minutes or the numbers of books they will read or listen to throughout the program.

Younger participants who are not yet able to read may listen to stories. Parents and caregivers can pick up activity sheets to help engage their future-readers in a fun, free way to develop their pre-reading skill sets.

For more information about the program, visit the Beaufort County Library website: http://www.beaufortcountylibrary.org/summer-reading

Also be sure to check out their summer activity brochure for free library activities for children and adults.
