CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -  A judge for Charleston County Bond Court set bond on Saturday for the man accused of shooting Tyreik Gadsden, 5, and Desmond Lewis, 20. The bond was set at $2.5 million between all charges.

According to Charleston officials, Calvin Brown Jr., 27, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Reports have stated that the incident took place on May 22 at 8:46 p.m. in the vicinity of the Wraggborough housing development on Mary and America streets in Charleston.

Gadsden was seriously injured after being shot in the back and was left paralyzed. Lewis had received a bullet wound to his left leg, and has been released from the hospital. Gadsden is recovering, and his family reports that he is "in good spirits."

Gadsden is currently at a hospital in North Carolina receiving specialized treatment. His family is reportedly satisfied with the bond.

"This was another senseless tragedy with an innocent victim," said Chief Greg Mullen. "I take this opportunity to thank our community for their support."

The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
