COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP/WCSC) - Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is making a trip to South Carolina on the heels of his official entry into the 2016 presidential race.
Perry is holding a town hall meeting at the U.S.S. Yorktown in Mount Pleasant beginning at 6 p.m. Before that, he will be visiting the South Carolina Military Museum in Columbia.
The Republican is accompanied by Marcus Luttrell, a longtime Perry friend and the only survivor of a four-man team attacked in Afghanistan. Luttrell's story was featured in the 2013 film "Lone Survivor."
Perry officially announced his candidacy last week for the 2016 presidential contest.
