NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police say a 15-year-old girl who was reported missing nearly two weeks ago went to the New Orleans area.

Yani Lyle, a sophomore at Fort Dorchester High School, was reported missing by her family after last being seen on May 28. She has yet to return home.

Officers say their investigation into her disappearance revealed the teen went to the New Orleans area on the day she went missing. Officers say the New Orleans Police Department has been notified, and is assisting North Charleston police in the investigation.

"At this time we do not have any signs of foul play," said North Charleston Police Department Captain Scott Perry on Monday.

Yani's mother, Lizette Gary, says this is abnormal behavior for her daughter, who typically follows a check-in system whenever she goes somewhere.

Yani was last seen at school on May 28 carrying a bag of clothing, police said.

Police are calling this a runaway missing person case.

The investigation is ongoing.
