DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A 24-year-old man who police say was shot after breaking into an apartment in Dorchester County was charged with second-degree burglary.
The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office arrested Chavez Najae Wright.
Wright's charge stems from an incident on June 12 around 6 a.m. at the Coopers Ridge Apartments on Copper's Ridge Boulevard where DCSO officials say Wright went to the home to confront the victim about her new boyfriend.
According to an affidavit, Wright stood at the door and said if she did not open the door he would kick it in. Court records state the victim then told Wright that he "better go now, for real."
Authorities say Wright kicked in the door and ran into the home towards the victim. The victim reported that Wright then opened fire.
According to investigators, the victim's boyfriend then shot Wright who then ran out of the home.
After the shooting stopped, there were bullet holes found in the walls, doors and in the refrigerator. There were also bullet holes in the pillows on the sofa.
The inside of the apartment resembled a shooting gallery, with 13 bullet holes found throughout the home.
The two women who live in the apartment said they are thankful to be alive.
