NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Red Cross is assisting a family of three after a garage fire at a North Charleston home Tuesday morning.
The North Charleston Fire Department says firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire in the 2800 block of Glouster Street just after 10 a.m.
First responders reported seeing light smoke coming from the front of the single story home.
According to NCFD officials, crews attacked the fire containing it to the garage.
There were no reported injuries.
"The smoke alarms alerted the resident to the fire allowing the family time to evacuate quickly and call 911," read a statement by NCFD."Be sure to check your smoke alarms and ensure they are functioning. There should be a working smoke alarm outside each sleeping area and at least one on each level. In addition all residents should have a fire escape plan including closing all doors to limit the spread of smoke and heat."
