Republican presidential candidates Jeb Bush and Donald Trump have both canceled scheduled campaign stops in the Lowcountry, following the shooting at a Downtown Charleston church.
Bush was set to attend an event at the Charleston Maritime Center Thursday.
His campaign says "Governor Bush's thoughts and prayers are with the individuals and families affected by this tragedy."
Donald Trump, who announced he was running for president on Tuesday, postponed his scheduled visit to the Lowcountry, at at the residential community of Sun City in Bluffton, South Carolina.
"The tragic events that occurred on Wednesday evening should be our nation's primary focus for the foreseeable future," Trump stated. "This is a time for healing, not politics."
