Suspect sought in fatal Summerville shooting surrenders to police

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - An 18-year-old man wanted for a fatal shooting in Summerville has surrendered to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.

DCSO officials say Thomas Robert Shewtzuk of Summerville surrendered to detectives Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. for the June 13 shooting that took the life of Travis Jordon.

"He voluntarily walked into the office on Deming Way and surrendered without incident," stated a report by the sheriff's office.

A bond hearing is scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Authorities considered Shewtzuk armed and dangerous. Shewtzuk was wanted on a warrant for murder.

On the morning of June 13, deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the BP Quick Food Mart on 2703 Highway 17-A South for a report of a shooting.

When deputies and medics arrived, they found Gordon dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

The coroner's office says Gordon died of a gunshot to the head, and was shot a total of two times.
