CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The son of a Goose Creek coach killed in the downtown Charleston church shooting says his mother's funeral will be Thursday.
In a Twitter post Sunday, Chris Singleton said the funeral for Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, 45, will be held Thursday at noon at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. In a second Twitter post, he said the viewing will be at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Singleton was the head coach for the girls' track team at Goose Creek High School and was also a speech language pathologist.
She also served as an associate minister at Emanuel AME.
She was one of nine people fatally wounded when a gunman opened fire at the church Wednesday night following a bible study.
Goose Creek High School Principal Jimmy Huskey said Singleton was always there with a smile and ready to help.
"She was always willing to listen and talk to them [the students]," Huskey said. "Mrs. Singleton will be deeply missed by the Gator nation and we can never replace her as a member of our team."
Singleton had three children.
