CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston's hospitality community will be holding "A Community United" fundraiser event on July 9 and a silent auction to benefit the families of the Mother Emanuel AME victims.
The event takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Belmond Charleston Place Hotel, located at 205 Meeting Street in Charleston.
Fifty restauranteurs and dozens of beverage purveyors will be represented at the event to donate food and beverages in support of the fundraiser.
Music will be provided by the Mark Sterbank Group and Lowcountry Voices gospel choir. The evening will also feature a program by Charleston and AME church leaders.
"Charlestonians are coming together in remarkable ways in the wake of this tragedy," said Mickey Bakst, an organizer of the dinner, "The desire to take part in this is so profound, not a single individual has turned down our invitation to participate."
Bidding for the online auction will begin on July 3 at 12 p.m. and conclude on July 9 at midnight. Participants must register a credit card to bid in the silent auction. There will be an option to pay with check or cash at the end of the auction.

, and by dropping items at the bell stand at Belmond Charleston Place. The name of the item, value of the item, and donor's name are requested.
Tickets cost $200 per person, and 100% of proceeds will be donated directly from the Community United Fund to the nine families of the victims.
