Police: Calhoun St. reopens after funeral for church shooting victim

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Calhoun Street between Anson and Meeting Streets is now reopen to traffic, according to Charleston Police.

The portion of Calhoun Street in front of Mother Emanuel AME Church was shut down to vehicle traffic on Friday to allow for weekend funerals of some of the victims of the June 17 church shooting.

The funeral for Myra Thompson, one of last victims to be laid to rest, was held Monday at the church.

The service for Rev. Daniel Simmons is scheduled for noon on Tuesday at Greater St. Luke AME Church in Charleston, with a viewing before, at 11 a.m. A wake will then be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Leevy's Funeral home in Columbia with a funeral on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bethel AME Church in Columbia.
