MONROE, MI (WCSC) - Charleston's own Stephen Colbert seems to be so anxious to start his new gig as host of "The Late Show" in September that he's willing to host any show in the meantime.
Colbert surprised people in Southeast Michigan by popping up as host of a local cable access show called "Only in Monroe." He interviewed the show's real hosts, talked about current events in the town of Monroe, and also interviewed Detroit, Michigan native Eminem.
Colbert recorded the show Tuesday and it originally aired on Monroe Public Access Cable Television at midnight Wednesday. The station teased the show on it's Facebook page, saying "Don't miss a BRAND NEW episode of "Only in Monroe" premiering tonight AT MIDNIGHT!"
The show later appeared on YouTube and has quickly attracted 1.4 million views and counting.
"The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" is scheduled to premiere September 8 on CBS.
