CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A bridge collapse connecting a Johns Island marina means an inconvenience for motorists whose vehicles are stranded on the other side.
C.C. Caudle says both of her family's cars are on the other side of a bridge at St. Johns Yacht Harbor that she was told collapsed between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m Friday.
"We have no idea what's going to happen," Caudle said.
Her husband drove to Charleston last Sunday for the week to work on their boat. She said she arrived Thursday night for the weekend, then learned Friday morning a section of the bridge appeared to have fallen.
Caudle said the bridge had been down to one lane for some time and said she was relieved to hear no one was hurt. But the collapse meant she had to call her daughter for a ride to the store.
"The only two cars we have are over there," she said.
There is no word on the cause of the collapse or how soon repairs can be made.
