COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - One person died and two others were injured in a high-speed car crash in Colleton County early Monday morning.
Colleton County Fire rescue responded to the crash on Jacksonboro Road near Charleston Highway just after 2:30 a.m.
A caller told 911 dispatchers two people had been ejected from the car and they could not find a female occupant.
Investigators say it appeared the driver of the car lost control on the rural road during a curve, causing the car to leave the road then strike several trees before returning to the road and stopping across the center line.
A woman who had been ejected from the vehicle and was found in the woods died from her injuries, authorities say.
Two men in the car were transported to area hospitals. There is no information on their conditions.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
