CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The suspect in the Charleston church shooting has been indicted on three additional charges of attempted murder, according to the Ninth Circuit Solicitor's Office.

Dylann Roof already faces nine counts of murder and one count of possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with the June 17 shooting at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston.

"We presented three additional Attempted Murder charges to the grand jury and the Defendant was subsequently indicted for those charges," Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson said in a statement.

The attempted murder charges are related to the victims who survived the attack, Wilson said.

Roof is accused of killing nine people at the church following a Bible study. Among the victims was the church's pastor, State Sen. and Rev. Clementa Pinckney.
