GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - A fundraiser in Goose Creek on Saturday will raise money for the Berkeley County deputy who was shot at a Moncks Corner gas station in May.
The Goose Creek Summer Bash, scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Creekside Center in Goose Creek, will collect donations for Berkeley County Sheriff's Lt. Will Rogers and his family.
Rogers, a night shift supervisor with more than 25 years of law enforcement experience, was shot in the back of the head at around 10:30 p.m. on May 14 in the parking lot of a gas station as he was talking to a customer.
The bash will feature family-friendly activities including a Berkeley County K9 Unit demonstration, vendors, food and a silent auction, with donations and vendor fees going to the family. Vendor fees will also be given to the family, Berkeley County Sheriff's spokesman Michael Mulé said in a statement.
The Creekside Center is located at 205 North Goose Creek Blvd.
Lt. Will Rogers is still in the hospital but is again able to walk, talk and recognize family and friends, Mulé said in a statement. The Rogers family thanks the public for their thoughts and support, he said.
