CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - An online auction house is reportedly offering up for bids a handwritten letter from the accused Emanuel AME Church shooting suspect Dylann Roof.
The website TrueCrimeAuctionHouse.com features two photos of the letter and envelope that were purportedly mailed from the Al Cannon Detention Center in North Charleston.
A spokesman for the Charleston County Sheriff's Office could not confirm that the letter came from Roof. Maj. Eric Watson says CCSO is aware of the website and that they are currently working to review the documents.
Roof is accused of opening fire following a Bible study at Mother Emanuel AME Church on the evening of June 17, killing nine church members.
Investigators say he admitted to the crime, saying he was trying to start a race war.
The website is known for selling memorabilia connected to murderers and other criminals. As of Friday afternoon, no bids had been placed on the item.
