Mount Pleasant shop to give away gowns to military brides

MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

A Mount Pleasant bridal shop is giving away dozens of dresses to military brides this weekend.

The Bridal House of Charleston will give away free gowns on Saturday to engaged women who serve, or their fiancée serves, in the U.S. military.  The event is through the national program Brides Across America.

Yvonne Chadwick, owner of The Bridal House of Charleston, said the shop has 40 dresses available.  Twenty women are currently registered.  This is the fourth year the store is participating in the giveaway.

“It’s something I feel passionate about, and it’s one way to give back,” Chadwick said, adding that her two sons serve in the military.

Qualified couples must have been deployed within the past five years, or have an upcoming deployment.

Chadwick said walk-ins are welcome and must show military identification.
