WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Fire crews battled a house fire in West Ashley that injured three people Monday afternoon.

Two are still recovering in the hospital including an eight-year-old child.

"I thought we were having a big earthquake or something till I heard the screams," Gail Carroll, a neighbor of the fire victims, said.

Carroll said she felt a rumble and came outside where she saw the flames. She said she tried to help the young girl sitting in the yard.

"She was crying and I walked over there and there was probably about two layers of her skin had been burned, and her feet were very bloody and fire ants started crawling on her so I picked her up and I took her across the street," Carroll said.

The fire broke out on Camelot Drive near Old Town Road according to Charleston Fire officials.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.
