Berkeley County officials will recount the votes in the Moncks Corner Town Council special election on Tuesday.
According to the unofficial results, town council candidate Jay Law leads with 50.1% of the votes. Chad Sweatman trailed closely behind Law with 49.9% of the total votes.
Officials say because the results are within a 1% difference, there will be an automatic recount following certification.
County officials say the Moncks Corner Special election recount will happen Thursday morning at 10 a.m.
