CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A Charleston man faces nine charges in connection with the sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the state's attorney general's office.

Philip Putnam, 23, is charged with two counts of criminal solicitation of a minor, one count of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, five counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of buggery, according to South Carolina Attorney General's Office spokesman J. Mark Powell.

Investigators say Putnam solicited sexually explicit photos from a young victim and admitted engaging in sexual activity with an animal.

Putnam was arrested Wednesday, Powell said.

If convicted, each count of criminal solicitation of a minor is punishable by up to 10 years; first-degree exploitation of a minor is punishable by up to 20 years; each count of second-degree criminal exploitation of a minor is punishable by up to 10 years; and the count of buggery is punishable by up to 5 years. All of the charges filed are felonies, Powell said.

A judge set bond for $125,000 and ordered Putnam to have no computer usage and remain under house arrest at his parents' residence with specific exceptions. The judge also ordered him to have no contact with anyone under age 18, Powell said.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.
